Bishop Kenneth Price’s Trip to St. Marks Canceled
In the bleak mid winter’s evening, the snow began to fall and fall and then fall some more. Some newscasters called it an upcoming “snowpocalypse” or a weather event of historical proportions. Here is Western Pennsylvania, and especially in Johnstown we just call it February. OK so we did get more snow than expected, but we have come to expect the unexpected. But snow in Johnstown and the same amount of snow in Pittsburgh, are two totally separate things. In Johnstown we just deal with it and in Pittsburgh it causes major chaos.
That chaos caused Bishop Kenneth Price to cancel his trip to Johnstown for Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation & Reception as well as meetings with both the vestry and congregation of St. Mark’s. The visit was cancelled but preparations continued. Gwen hemmed curtains, John & Annis Rogers as well as Bill & Doris Horner made arrangements to heat the BBQ pork for sandwiches. Snow was plowed, shoveled, blown and moved at individual homes as well as the Church. So Punxsutawney Phil may have been right on calling for six more weeks of winter, but all we can say is only 1 more month until Spring.
